Service: Children’s Wellness
As an Occupational Therapist, I work with children and families who want more out of life: more function, more calm, more joy in everyday life. I have partnered with little people and the grown ups that love them for over 30 years, in a variety of roles.
I have special interests in mental health and wellness promotion from the very start of life (in the womb); parenting highly sensitive, gifted, spirited and exceptional children; feeding therapy for children with complex eating issues; and in recovery from stressful experiences that are stored in the mind, body and spirit. I draw from the fields of psychology, family science, occupational therapy, neuroscience, mindfulness and energy medicine in a unique approach to whole wellness. Treatment modalities used include: therapeutic play, bodywork, mindfulness/sensory awareness activities, guided visualization, bodywork, acupressure and other energy medicine modalities. Therapy with children looks like play and is led by the child’s interests and motivations.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia (1996), with a Double Major in Psychology and Family Science, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Toronto (2000). I have an additional 18 years of training in various areas of rehabilitation. For over 11 years, I have been learning and practicing various energy medicine modalities, including inner child and soul work, medical intuition (Advanced Level), Reiki 1&2, Integral Healing and BEAM Therapy. I am a trauma and IFS (Internal Family Systems) informed practitioner.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, connecting with friends over tea, baking, forest walks, and loving my dog (and any other dogs I come across)!
